Insanity, a sonnet

Back on poems that are more about reality than fantasy, so heres the first sonnet I’ve written.

To claim sanity is just vanity

In humanity abides insanity

Then why is it seen as being obscene

It is just routine like one big machine

I think you shall find I am of sound mind

To madness resigned my thoughts not confined

To the defined box of sanity’s pox

I am the wild fox, mania’s mute vox

Discord is the norm of life’s every form

Why should we conform to reason’s reform

Madness is the key to set us all free

We will guarantee this year’s jubilee

In insanity abides humanity

It is vanity to claim sanity.

Hope you enjoy, please comment.

Week 19 Theme: Rules, regulations, and laws!

    • Thank you for the kind invitation, sadly I must decline your generous offer. Sadly I am not a theme switching writer really, most my poetry follows the same themes so I would find it hard to fit the theme aspect, also I am currently running on a poetic empty so that wont help matters. I may reconsider another time but, for now, I must say thank you but I shall stay reclusive.

      • You can participate with an old poem, no need to be on the theme. I don’t submit poem related to the theme every week. Anyway … anytime you feel like it, you’re welcome! Thanks for answering my comments!

        • Thank you for your invite, even if I doubt I shall accept it. Anyone who is kind enough to comment deserves to be at the very least acknoladged by me, so answering is the least I can do.

    What weaving of words…

    • The funny thing is it wasn’t written as a sonnet, I just realised when I finished it that I could combine couplets together and that in theory it’d fit a sonnet. glad you enjoyed it so much.
