Another Sleepless Night (full).

A fair while ago I wrote a bit of prose called Another sleepless night, here’s it plus some extra, to fill out the story.

Water drips from the ceiling.

She’s left the tap on again.

I get up off the futon, it’s not like I’d been sleeping, just trying, and failing.

As ever.

She always seems to leave the tap on if I stay on the futon, I don’t know why, but she does.

I open the door and start climbing up stairs, not bothering turning the lights on – I know the way.

I open the bathroom door and, sure enough, the tap is running and the bath is overflowing.

Another sleepless night.

Why does he always try to sleep on the futon?

I always worry when he does that.

Maybe a bath will help.

Actually I won’t have that bath.

Did I leave the tap on?

Ah it doesn’t matter.

He’ll probably come up soon.

Try and say I left the tap on.

Oh well.

At least he’ll come to bed.

Why do you always leave the bath running?

Why do you always try to sleep on the futon?

I don’t sleep, I just don’t want to disturb you.

I don’t sleep, I’m too worried about you.

Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.

You may be fine, but will we be?

Yes, I will always love you.

Then don’t try to sleep on the futon.

Hope you enjoy, please feel free to comment.
