Dropped Words

This was the first of three poems written on a sleepless night (the second was posted last week). It is by far the least hopeful. I was feeling pretty rough after accidentally taking a joke far too far and offending a friend. There are times I struggle with feeling like one of those transient friends – there for a particular season in peoples’ lives, but walking alone in the end. The few close friends I have might say that’s a load of crap, but it doesn’t help when I’m feeling down.

Dropped words
Like razor blades
Scatter the path
Slicing friendships
Like myself before
I never learn
Which words
Cut like knives
Giving good friendship
Ragged edges
And ugly scars
I suppose I can’t have anything
I walk better alone
At least then
My words
Can only cut

Hope you enjoy.
