Shapeshifter

Sorry about the break in service, I ended up nose to grindstone over essays that took longer than expected. Thankfully they’re done, and I’ve got a bit of breathing room, hopefully get some fun writing done.

There are times I really struggle with impostor syndrome (well okay, I tend to always be aware of it, but there are times I really struggle), this was written during one of those times. I also thought up a story to go with it, which I’ve just remembered still hasn’t been written down.

Shapeshifter
fooling everyone
but self

A skin of confidence
and nobody can tell
nemo throwing stones

No right to speak
words veneered
with borrowed Authority

Underneath
no more than child
a lost little kid

Surrounded by giants
with big sharp teeth
bloodstained red

Who seem to believe
gums are biggest teeth
more bloodstained than all

Terrified
one day they will see
the lost little kid

Shapeshifter
no more than child
not King of the Giants

Hope you enjoy, please feel free to comment

  1. Good poem, and yep, we all suffer from imposter syndrome some days.
